Buckminster Fuller and Integrated Education
Fuller was known as the Leonardo of the 20th Century. Bucky was a true Renaissance Man and the breadth and depth of his work includes Mathematics, Architecture, Cartography, Automotive design, and Sculpture, just to name a few. When asked how he defined himself, he would always respond that he was a, “Synergetic Comprehensive Design Scientist.” To Bucky, integrity was of the highest value and his life’s work was a true reflection of the synthesis, or integration, of all disciplines. His whole-systems approach is a model for modern educators that wish to teach in a cross-curricular manner and make connections in the spirit of the Black Mountain College.
