ReVIEWING Black Mountain College 9

Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center introduces its performance initiative during the conference, “ReViewing 9”, September 29-October 1, 2017 in downtown Asheville, NC.  The conference will offer more than 60 interdisciplinary presenters from around the world, focusing on the art, dance, music and poetry of Black Mountain College.

Two keynote addresses will be featured at the conference: one by conceptual artist Mel Chin, on Friday, September 29, and another by the team behind Black Mountain Songs on Saturday, September 30.

Black Mountain Songs, commissioned and produced by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and BAM, and curated by Bryce Dessner (The National) and Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire), is inspired by Black Mountain College's prolific community of artists, and attempts to capture the College’s utopian spirit.

Brooklyn Youth Chorus performs Pulitzer Prize winning composer Caroline Shaw's "Anni's Constant" from their groundbreaking production, Black Mountain Songs. Recorded live in concert at BAM, Nov 20-23, 2014, as part of the BAM Next Wave Festival.
